The Problem

The existing training was outdated and taught superseded practices, causing confusion and inconsistent asset-management methods across the university.

Design Story

I interviewed stakeholders and SMEs to identify policy and procedure changes, consolidated content from two legacy courses, and defined what learners truly needed to know to do the job.

Complexity

Two outdated courses — one misaligned with current policy, one reflecting an updated software UI — had to merge quickly, without disrupting operations.

Start with the job to be done and the policy outcomes, then design backward — strip the nice-to-knows, keep the must-dos, map actions to the errors we need to prevent, and co-create with SMEs so the course is accurate, lean, and immediately useful.

The Designed Solution

I led the analysis to determine essential, current content, distilled it into a written prototype, and built a concise Rise 360 course reflecting updated policies and procedures — with interactions like flip cards and varied layouts and a right-sized final assessment.

Design Decisions

  • Evaluated legacy content but designed from the ground up with the end in mind.
  • Engaged SMEs asynchronously through Review 360 to respect their time.
  • Front-loaded analysis and design to reduce development and rework.
