The Problem

UF's Workday end-to-end testing required testers to work in GitLab, and they needed focused, just-in-time training to do it.

Design Story

As part of the broader Workday effort, I built and led a single live virtual session plus the materials to support it.

Complexity

A one-time, time-boxed training on a technical tool, delivered to a specific audience inside a tight testing window.

For a genuine one-off, optimize for speed and sufficiency — give testers exactly what they need to do the task, and nothing they don't.

The Designed Solution

A focused virtual ILT and accompanying materials that walked testers through the GitLab workflow required for end-to-end testing.

Design Decisions

  • Scoped tightly to the testing task.
  • Built supporting materials testers could reference during the work.
  • Delivered it live to handle questions in real time.

The Result

Testers were equipped to complete the GitLab portion of Workday testing.

Impact

Supported a critical step in UF's Workday readiness.

Outcome

Delivered as a completed, one-time training.
